Episode 9 - A Rare Chance In Life
(Part One)
Manic: At least it wasn't porn. "Virgin Vaginas", anyone?
Sonic: Is that a hard metal band?
Manic: I wish, bro.
Reference to the terribly inaccurate Lifetime film known as "Cyber Seduction: His Secret Life".
(Part Two)
Manic: Holy crap, Frank Nelson's serving them from the dead!
If you're a fan of "The Simpsons", then maybe you're more familiar with the "Yes Man", who often addresses people with a resounding "Yyyyes?!". Frank Nelson was based on that recurring character.
Manic: You think that's bad? They need to learn about living in the
sewers.
Sonia: Ick.
Manic: *stares at Sonia* Don't mock my home, man.
Actually a reference to "Sonic Underground". Seriously, do not insult living in the sewers around Manic. He won't get violent, just a tiny bit offended.
Sonic: *as Uncle* Someone must do research!
Reference to "Jackie Chan Adventures".
Episode 10 - Killing Time
Amy: Besides, they were all drunken texts. How were we supposed to reply to, "9h9 3idn8 j00 answe7."?
It's not really obscure... but it may be, if you don't know the letters associated with a phone. Amy was originally saying, "Why didn't you answer?" W and Y are on the 9 key, D is on the 3 key, T is on the 8 key, and R is on the 7 key.
Last time I checked, my name wasn’t Sasha Grey!
Amy: Jeez, that sounded like a bad gangsta rap video, too!
If you're wondering who Sasha Grey is, she's a porn star... or was one. Yes, I googled that. And yes, Amy's also right; all of that odd censorship sounds like a bad rap video. Just listen on the radio, or watch anything on BET or (maybe) MTV or VH1 and you'll catch on.
Episode 11 - Kii and the Mirror of Chaos
Manic: Yes, it's very powerful and
beautiful.
Sonia: *rolls her eyes*
Callbacks to "Ultimate" and "Starting Fresh". Sonia's reaction is entirely understandable here.
Sonia: Apparently, we're in 1841... actually, that's wonderful. Maybe she could switch places with William Henry Harrison; it would make our lives a whole lot easier.
Yes, it would. Of course, wouldn't you like a Mary Sue to switch places with a president who only served one month in office, and then died of pneumonia and other horrid symptoms? Yes, that was the 9th President of the United States.
