Egg Spiral Crew, Episode 5: The White Hedgehog (Part Five)
--
I don't own Sonic and crew and hold no claim to them. But any
characters
that are unknown to you are from my mind.
All: Blah, blah, blah...
What of me, What am I to do
By: Jenny Blue
Manic: Whine about more wangsty "sympathy" crap that involves the abuse of the word "darkness". Besides, that's what you've been doing for almost the whole stupid fic.
It was easier for Sonic to fall asleep then for Kathryn. She lay in her bed for a long time before sleep finely clamed her. It wasn't a rest full one. Since coming here, the dreams came often. This wasn't the same. The darkness was coming for her. For the first time, her dream self stood her ground as it enveloped her in its depths.
Sonic: Yadda, yadda, yadda, make us show sympathy towards you. It didn't work earlier, and it ain't gonna work now. Stop. Freakin'. Trying.
For it had saved a life last night and she was willing to face it if it could help save others. Till the dream began.
Amy: Somebody tape the broken record, please!
"Mommy? Mommy why are you crying?" The little kit asked her mother.
Sonia: *as Katharine* Because this midseason schedule's terrible! How dare they cancel Paul Reiser's new show after two weeks!
"It's nothing sweetie. Why aren't you in bed?" her mother asked.
"I had a bad dream." The little kit crawled into her mother's lap. "It was one of those bad ones."
Sonic: I'm having one, too. I can't wake up from reading a never ending badfic.
"Oh Kathryn, tell me what it was about." She watched as her daughter' s eyes become older and with a far away look in them.
Amy: Wow, if her eyes are aging faster than the rest of her body, she seriously needs to see an optometrist.
"I was a man in my dream. The city was in ruins. It was day, but the sky was so black with smoke and smog, you couldn't tell. Everywhere I look, the people of the city are robots. Everything is left in desolation. Mommy, it was like I was really there. It was a war."
Amy: If they knew everything, why didn't they try to stop
the war from even starting?
Sonic: Mary Sues do not think, Ames. They only want to keep a tally for
the canon characters that they are screwing over.
"I know baby, I know."
"Mommy I'm scared. Do you think it really was just a dream?"
"Oh Kathryn, I wish it was just a dream. I really wish it was."
Manic: Crap, it's not a dream? I dreamt that Sarah Palin went to a loony house!
Kathryn was standing in the darkness again.
Amy: And the Crayola company introduces their newest color... really, really, really black.
"I forgot about that." She heard her dream self say.
'You never forgot, you didn't want to remember. Just like you dreamt about the attack and told no one. Instead you ran away.'
All: *chanting* Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!
"I didn't run away. She told me to get help."
Sonic: Tch, yeah. And I'm Shadow's new lover.
Sonia: Would you like to consume the rest of your foot or get an
ipecac for that, Sonic?
Sonic: I was referring to the warped canon.
Sonia: Oh. Never mind, then.
'You could have prevented the whole thing by telling. You could have saved her. It's your fault she's dead.'
Manic: Nah, it's just her fault we have to sit through this nonexistent guilt tripping.
She could feel herself crumbling under the harshness of the voice. It was right; she could have saved the whole village if she had told about her dream. Then she felt the darkness taking her again.
Amy: Jeez, can't we just throw her into a black hole and
be done with it?
Sonic: You forgot, Amy... she is the black hole.
She finds herself in the king's royal court. She looks down to see she is older. She looks to her mother and in her arms is a baby.
Sonia: Ah, and there's Amy, who'll grow up to be... a background.
"Mommy, what is going on?"
"We won the war with the Overlanders."
The king speaks, "My friends, today is a day to celebrate. Today we won the war and it's all thanks to Julius here."
A plump man stands up, an Overlander. He bows as the court applause him and he smiles.
"Kathryn, what's the matter?" she looks down to see her daughter cowering be hind her.
"It's the man from my dream."
Sonic: *rolls his eyes* Isn't telling the future wonderful?
Again she is left in the darkness. She's on her knees, hugging herself. She wants to run, to wake up. But there is something holding her back. Something wanting her to see.
Amy: Somebody tied her up and taped her eyes open.
'Again you could have stopped a the destruction.'
"But I did tell, she told the king and he didn't believe her."
Manic: Yeah, because kids just lie all of the time.
'Its your fault they suffered.'
"No, I told. I told."
Kathryn was ready to give into the darkness.
Sonic: Blah, blah, blah, darkness, blah, blah, blah.
She let herself fold over.
Sonia: Into a paper airplane, all set to fly away.
Waited for it to come. Everything the voice had said was true. She had let them be taken. She had let the Great War happen. It was her fault it all happened. *Oh Kathryn, don't give in.* She looked up, she couldn't see anything, but it sounded like her mother.
Sonic, Sonia, Manic: *flatly* What.
Amy: Okay, I'm confused now... why couldn't her mother tell instead of
the younger version of Madame Sue?
Sonic, Sonia, Manic: The logic is dead, Amy!
"Mother?"
*Oh sweetie, I wish I could help you, but this is your battle. All I can do is remind you of who you are and where you come from.*
Sonic: Translation: A Mary Sue from Hell's fiery pits.
Kathryn bolts up in bed. Her heart racing and her fur damp.
Amy: Did somebody dump a bucket of water on her?
She sat still as her breath was ragged in her throat and her heart hammered in her chest.
Manic: Uh... shouldn't her heart explode out of her chest or something right now?
She closed her eyes and listened to her surrounding.
Sonic: What surrounding?! She's in a damn hut!
She sat there in the silence, as her breath calmed; her heart began to slow.
Sonia: And then it stopped.
Sonic: Good.
As both heart and breathe began their normal rhythm. She was still shaken.
Amy: Hey, she's sleeping in a vibrating bed!
She lifted a shaking hand to move her hair out of her face. Then she looked to her window and saw the sun was starting it's slow decent across the sky. With a deep sigh, she got out of bed, dressed and left for the power ring pool.
Sonia: Kat's forgotten about showering, apparently.
The evening air felt good against her fur. Fall was coming and soon the forest would show the colors of the season. She let the wind dry her fur the rest of the way.
Sonic: Yeah, she's too good for showering. You know how
those Mary Sues get.
Amy: Yeah, even Sonia's not this uppity.
Sonia: Well, thanks for the "compliment", you two.
Her mind wound back over her dream. A shiver ran down her back as she recalled it all. Of all her dreams, this one was the worse.
Manic: Replace "worse" with "darkest", "blackest", or "wangstiest".
As she walked, she let the sounds of the evening forest sooth her nerves.
Sonic: But that won't help what may piss off the reading audience next.
There were still some mobians about, but none seemed to notice her walking through the little village. She liked that.
Amy: I'll be honest; I don't think that there's
anything wrong with not liking to be around people, but this Sue is one snobby
thing. Also, everything in this fic would have been avoided if she just said
everything to Sally.
Sonic: You're using logic again, Ames. Cut it out.
As she neared the small pool, she could her voices talking. The closer she got the louder the voices became.
Sonia: Really? I could've sworn that the voices would be on top of a mountain when I got closer.
She realized that the voices were yelling and that the owners were Sonic and Sally. Kathryn stopped and moved to the side of the path, hiding herself in the bushes.
Manic: *shouting* Hey, Kat's in the bushes! Get her!
Sonia: *covers her ears* Could you be any more louder, Manic?
"I don't want to hear it Sally. I knew you were seeing him, but this?" Sonic said, pointing to her stomach.
"Sonic I."
"Save it Sal. How long? How long were you going to lead me on?" his eyes closing to slits.
"I'm a month along. I never meant to hurt you. I just didn't know how to tell you."
Amy: *sarcastically* Great, my fortune telling's accurate! I didn't think I'd ever figure that plot twist out!
"You could have told me. Get out of my sight!" he turned his back to her.
Amy: Well, that argument made a lot of sense.
Sonic: Yep, I'm also glad that I'm now a random dickweed. Thanks, Suethor!
Sally stood there for a moment. Her hand held out to him and the pulled back again. Some how it felt harder to leave then to stay.
Manic: And then they danced in the sounds of the night, careful not to hurt Sally's injured arm... wait.
She sighed and slowly turned to leave. As she looked down the path, she saw Kathryn standing in the middle of it.
Amy: Hang on, I thought she was hiding in a bush! Is she
asking to get thrashed?
Manic: Um, yes. If none of us can give her two black eyes and a few
broken bones, then Sally's the only one who can.
Sally set her shoulders, held her head high and began to walk. As she passed the white hedgehog, she saw that her eyes had a slight glow to them and kept walking.
Sonia: Wait a second... who has the evil looks?
Sonic: Who cares? We'll just ask Jessie to shoot them both. A Sue and a drone
can go down in one shot from her.
Kathryn watched the princess leave and then slowly walked up to Sonic. She quietly stood next to him. His body was ridged and quills razed.
Manic: Is it the "Werehog" this time?
Amy: No, I think Sonic's going to look polygonal or something.
She looked into the water, as the surface changed to its night colors.
Sonic: I wonder how long it'll be before the surface shows red...
They stood in the comforting silence. Neither looked at the other as time passed.
Sonia: And then they mated, ensuring Sonic's hipocrisy.
Sonic: *shudders* Sonia, don't you ever say that again.
To be continued
I did it again. I managed to write 2 in a week. Her ray for me, I am the great writer.
All: *exaggerated coughing*
Enough about me, I hope you liked this installment of "The White Hedgehog".
All: We didn't.
Do please check out my other fics. I worked really hard on them.
Sonia, Manic, Amy: *gets up*
Sonia: I'm sure you did, hon.
Amy: Hey, Sonic? Why are you still in your seat?
Sonic: Just waiting for the next surprise chapter.
Amy: Look, there are no more chapters. You might as well--
Sonic: Really?! Woo-hoo!
*Sonic then jumps out of his seat and runs out of the theater.*
Manic: Wow, I'm surprised that he actually sat there and waited. Maybe
this fic warped him a lot harder than we thought.
