Special Episode 7: The Scar (Part Nine)

10. Who We Are, What We're Doing

The Scar

A Mortal Kombat Fanfiction

A.N. Okay and we are back!

I really wanted to try and get another chapter of this out before the new Mortal Kombat X is released but I failed :(, and although I'm really amped about the game. I'll be honest I'm kinda bummed too. I was hoping I'd have more time to get more of this story done before the game came out because as you all have seen it's based on Mortal Kombat nine. So we're not gonna reach the next game for a while.

Sonic: Well, at least we know the darn cutoff point for the fic now.

THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M NOT PLANNING FOR IT! As I said before, I'm already planning out a sequel to this story based on what I know about the new game. But I'm gonna get the new one and play through it so I can finalize all of the details and really get ready. So there's definitely going to be a sequel to The Scar when this is all finished, we've got a long way to go, but trust me guys I'm already planning out how this can tie into the next game and we can keep it going from there :)

Jessie: So he's going to age physically. Mentally... is a different can of worms.

Well all the more reason to keep working on this story I suppose :) And besides we've hit our first two milestones! Chapter ten and one hundred reviews! WOOO! Thank you all so much for being here with me, thanks to those who've reviewed I love reading what you guys have to say and responding to each of you (that I can of course, can't reply to guest reviews lol) thanks to everyone who've fave'd or followed this and I hope you all stick around for the long haul and hopefully will still be here when I write the sequel :3

Cassy: Stick the others with the sequel and run off. That's the game plan.
Amy: Sure, and we'll have the fastest members chase us after that.
Cassy: Oh, crap. We'll be dealing with Rory on his souped-up Extreme Gear board. Damn it.
Amy: Don't forget Mr. Nikaido.
Cassy: Double crap.

Disclaimer: Two flies are on a piece of shit, one of them rips a fart and the other one says "Hey! I'm eating here." I don't own Mortal Kombat ^-^

Mai: Get off the stage...

Ready? Okay! :DDD

Keiko: No, and I don't want to.

Combatants Chambers: Black Scar's Room

Kyle was standing in stunned silence as this black haired beauty unveiled her face to him. It was really her, "...Princess..." He uttered barely above a breath, she was just standing several feet away. The fireplace still illuminating the blue clad body hidden beneath the cloak, he could however make out her long blue boots and the matching loin cloth un-moving in the still air of the room. That only reminded him of how warm it was quickly getting in here seeing as the window was shut, or just his nervousness and excitement building up over time.

James: Let's hope that it's not the "excitement" part.

He blinked a couple times before he realized that he was just staring dumbfounded in an uncomfortable silence while Kitana read him wordlessly. With a quick shake of his head he remembered that this woman Kitana was royalty, even if she was from a different realm she was still considered high up in power while he was just a combatant still believing that he was in over his head.

Emi: Oh. Now he knows that there are realms.

So practically on reflex he stopped holding the stained red cloth to the injury on his arm and bent the knee, quickly bowing before her even though he was actually still bleeding. Regardless that it had slowed down considerably, he did get stabbed but for some reason he was putting common courtesy before his own health.

Mai: See, that's how they die first.
Sonic: Wait, I thought that the most loyal ones were the people who got to eat.
Mai: Yes. They got to eat an extra scoop of rice.

So he fully got onto one knee, touched his palm to the floor and bowed his head, even if she had come here to challenge him or try to kill him, might as well be formal. After all, he had never met an actual Princess before.

Jessie: And then his head was lopped off.

Kitana actually found herself being a little surprised, none of the other combatants had bowed before her like they should have.

Amy: He's not like the other kombatants... ugh... Jesus H. Christ... *grumbles*

Of course her father was the true ruler and he's the one that needed to be bowed before but in a single presence with someone like this, she actually almost forgot that it was a custom for lower class to grovel before a high born. She saw his dark hair hang loosely with his head and she heard him whisper something that sounded like 'your highness' perhaps, but in the light she also caught sight of a reddish hue staining his arms. Only then did she realize that he was cut, or stabbed, she couldn't really tell from this angle but upon seeing it she cursed herself for not attending the fights today.

Keiko: So we'd have to deal with even more paragraphs of useless character shilling? No, thank you.

"You're hurt." The first statement came out at a normal volume thankfully breaking the uncomfortable silence. Kyle's head perked up and he lifted himself enough so that he could look upward towards the woman. He glanced down at his punctured arm and quickly placed the bunch of cloth back down over it.

He figured he should address it, "Oh it...it was just a small knife.

All: *stares at the screen*
Emi: Yes. And I just won the Publisher's Clearing House.

I was gonna patch myself up here now that my fighting is done for today."

James: You were gonna patch yourself up with what?
Sonic: Duct tape.

Now he couldn't lie, speaking to her after just simply looking at her from a distance over the times that he's seen her for so long felt strange. But it was happening so there wasn't a whole lot he could do about it except just try to make sense out of all this and to not be too nervous.

Cassy: And then he pissed himself.
Mai: ...disgusting.

After a moment of hesitation Kitana took a step forward and gestured with her hand for him to rise, "Come. Let me help you."

Jessie: He came, all right.
Cassy: *elbows Jessie*

Again Kyle blinked twice before getting feeling in his legs back and commanding them to stand him up. He didn't know what she had planned to do coming here, but in spite of everything that had happened over the last week. From the strange magic and creatures he'd encountered, from all of this realms at war and tournament talk. This was without a doubt the weirdest thing to happen to him yet.

Amy: This was the weirdest thing to him? Really?

His wash basin still sat on the circular table and the same water from this morning was without motion in the bowl. Kitana approached it and reached deep within her dark blue cloak, apparently there were concealed pockets inside it Kyle didn't even see. Even though all he was doing was staring at her while she moved around his room, this was so surreal that the teen felt frozen. Like if he pinched himself right now he might wake up at home in his bed, maybe there wouldn't be a Princess asking to help treat a stab wound he received battling a psychotic cannibal.

Only if.

Emi: It's definitely not like the time when I treated Master Kyo's injuries once.
Keiko: *stares at Emi* And what happened after that?
Emi: ...nothing. That's it.

Finding the strength to move, Kyle shuffled forward trying to get a clearer look at what she was doing. She lightly pulled a long blue cloth wrap out from the cloak, but his attention was mainly on her hands.

All: Are you sure?

Despite that she was an experienced fighter, he had seen himself what she was capable of; they looked very slim and delicate.

James: Pretty sure that "delicate" is sort of the wrong word to describe a body part of any woman. Just saying.

Wrapping it up into a small bundle she peered back over her shoulder at the younger man, "Sit." She gestured to the chair beside him and still without saying a word he sank into it without looking away from the woman dipping the bundle into the basin of cool water before him. The cloth soaked up as much liquid as it could hold then began to drip back into the pool, the audible sound the droplets made finally giving some contrast to the crackling fire place in the grave silence in the room. Kitana pulled a second chair closer to Kyle and flicked her cloak around so she could seat herself, and without even asking she took the teens injured limb into one of her hands and started pressing the wet bundle to the damaged area. It was cold but it was exactly what Kyle himself had planned to do before he got back, only he didn't anticipate having a beautiful warrior Princess here to do it for him.

Amy: Oh, yes, you did. We're not dense.

The light tapping against his cut felt a little uncomfortable but she was being very gentle, treating him like a delicate glass object that if she did not polish correctly or if she let slip out of her hands it would collapse to the ground and shatter.

Cassy: It's official, everyone's made of glass. Tip everyone over.

He could see the cloth was soaking up almost all of the blood that had been still seeping out, and any that had begun to dry was being cleaned up too. Kitana carried these cloths around in her cloak due to their strength for absorbing liquids, namely blood after a fight. That was great and everything but it didn't address the elephant in the room, why was this woman here in the first place?

And unable to contain the burning curiosity anymore, the teen had to say something, anything to remedy the itchy silence. "Thank you." Was all that came out, he wanted to say more but it was all that he managed.

Her movement faltered for a brief second and her brown doe like eyes glanced up at him, it seemed like she had been waiting for the chance to have close eye contact with him for so long. Now was that time, she took in all that his face had to offer. Thankfully he didn't put his mask back on after the fight so Kitana could examine his features up close and personal. His skin was maybe a little bit darker than her own shade, and she could clearly see some scruff growing under his chin and over his cheeks showing the beginning of possibly a dark beard. It was obvious that he was still very young and still developing but, "By the Gods is he developing well..." She loved his jaw line and how it seemed to match up with his dark hair, lighter than her own but dark brown. The arm she felt in her hand was also something she had longed for, for quite some time. Just to touch him, not even in a sensual way. But something she had never experienced was the gentle touch of a man. She only knew combat, and of course her father. This was different.

All: ...
Jessie: This fic... is sexualizing... a teenager.
Mai: You have got to be kidding me...
All: *silent*
Amy: Should we... switch?
Everyone else: *shakes their heads*
Keiko: It's not enough for that. We've read much worse. However... that was some serious shilling.
Jessie: *flatly* Squish.
Everyone else: *gags*
Cassy: *falls out of her seat*

Quickly she returned to her normal pace of cleaning his wound and spoke back, "You're welcome Kyle."

Sonic: *as his ears perk up* Wait a minute... he's going to catch that.
Emi: He might be dense, but he's not incredibly stupid.

Suddenly Kyle was very aware of what was going on and he flinched slightly at hearing her speak his real name, "How do you know..." He was confused at first but quickly his mind put two and two together. "Oh...did the woman in green tell you?"

Amy: A logical guess.

Kitana shook her head, "Jade? No, several days ago in the dungeons. I heard that blonde woman say your real name, I simply haven't forgotten." The boy mouthed a silent 'oh' and relaxed back once more allowing her to finish up cleaning him.

Amy: You know, it's kind of sad that we've seen a fic that remembers its own timeline for once.
Mai: And if I remember correctly, wasn't he in a hurry that time?
Emi: I think so.

All she had to do now was bind up the wound, but now that they had begun talking she didn't want to fall into silence once again. So taking a chance she asked him, "Do you...perhaps know my name?" Her eyes blinked up at him a few times, she subconsciously batted her eyelashes in his direction, quietly praying that he remembered her name as well.

James: Princess Filthy.
Jessie: *slaps James on the back of his head*

Of course he hadn't forgotten her name, he had only heard it once and a lot had happened since then but no he hadn't forgotten. He also was happy she had given him the name of that other girl as well. "Kitana. You're Princess Kitana."

At this point Kitana was thankful she still wore her own mask otherwise she might've not been able to hide her obvious smile, and she couldn't be sure but she believed that just hearing his voice say her name made a subtle heat begin to bloom in her cheeks.

Cassy: *as she gets back into her seat* And her loins.
Amy: *slaps Cassy out of her seat*
Cassy: *as she climbs back into her seat* Dude! At least let me get comfy before you do that!

Carefully she wrapped up his wound being as soft handed as ever, "There, this should keep it from bleeding any further." She said tightening the cloth around his arm, and although she was reluctant to lean back away from him she did.

Kyle drew his now bound up arm back to him as they both sat up straight, "Thank you again, but...don't take this the wrong way but, why are you here? I assume you don't want to challenge me to a fight considering you just..." He gestured with his freshly covered arm.

All: ...
Keiko: If you didn't figure it out by now, there's no hope for you.

Shaking her head Kitana replied, "No, I do not wish to fight you, I simply wanted to...meet you." There it was, Kitana didn't waste time trying to dance around it anymore. She had spent too long in the shadows, and too long waiting in the distance, even though Jade warned her not to move too fast into this, she couldn't really help it. Being so close to him now, actually speaking to him was clouding any judgement she might've had coming here, it was time she knew the man before her. "I'm sure Jade probably told you but, I wanted to tell you myself. I find you very...curious." "And handsome." She mentally added but elected to keep that part to herself.

Sonic: Can the shilling be any more obvious here?
Emi: Why is this reminding me about... that fic where Master Kyo gushed over me?
Amy: It's that old "horny beam" that makes canon characters fall head over heels for bland characters. We've been around the block here.

"You're curious about me?" The teen asked to which he received a subtle nod in response, he could remember that the girl in green, or Jade apparently, told him that the Princess had taken an interest in him. But what kind of interest exactly? Either way his mind went the typical teenage fantasy route and jumped to, "What if that means she likes me? But how? I barley know her."

Jessie: ...you're dumb. I can't even give a proper response to this.

He bounced the idea around in his head a little bit before he finally opted to speak again. "Well, if I'm being honest I've been a little curious about you too." Kitana seemed to perk up almost an un-noticeable amount upon hearing this, "But, I've got to ask, why are you... 'Interested' in me?" He put air quotes over over the word interested to which Kitana tilted her head.

All: Because you're a Stu.
James: Come on, we knew that she was gonna lust over his dumb arse! We were told this as soon as we started this bloody thing!

"Don't get me wrong I'm flattered, but this is only our first actual meeting and, so far the only thing I know about you is, you're a warrior Princess, you like the color blue and, the only part of your face I've seen are two big beautiful brown eyes. "

Mai: ...you were looking at her face, right?
Sonic: *snickers*

It was said before he could stop it, Kyle mentally cursed his hormones. Before he became Black Scar he had a tendency to just let things slip out without his brain getting a chance to filter the thought before it hit his mouth.

Cassy: In Riffer Land, we usually call that "being a dumbass". But in this case, that's more "flustered" than "dumbass".

Something he still hadn't completely outgrown and he quickly shook his head "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be...I..."

Kitana said nothing, but what she did do silenced him regardless. Her hand rose up open palmed signalling him to stop talking almost soothingly, effectively stopping him. Again she was glad that while she did this he couldn't see the girly smile that overtook her lips the moment he called her eyes beautiful.

Amy: A... "girly" smile? When did smiles have genders?
Keiko: I don't know, but perhaps those hormones are causing the narration to become incredibly awkward. Never mind, it's actually more awkward than usual.

"You weren't being forward, and I am not offended. I'm as you said; flattered." Right away his shoulders relaxed as they had tensed up when he realized that although it was just a compliment, back where he came from, telling a lady she had beautiful eyes meant you were hitting on her. And even though she wasn't from where he came from he was pretty sure she got the idea, and she didn't exactly shun him for it. He practically choked out, Kyle felt like he was more nervous than when he was about to fight.

James: Okay, this, I can get. But being nervous when you were going to fight? Mate...
Sonic: Yeah, yeah, he killed people.
James: Yeah, I'm getting tired of saying it myself now.

Again though his nervousness was cut off by Kitana's movement, only this time it was something he truly didn't anticipate her doing.

She was reaching for her mask.

It was done slowly, but at the same time gracefully in one fluid motion. Everything about her seemed to flow so much, she was like water, and

Emi: ...then she instantly evaporated.

as her fingers lightly touched the blue covering Kyle held his breath.

Jessie: And then he... you know what, that's an easy riff. I'm not gonna finish.

For her, it was a simple action. She wanted to show him her face, but Kyle wasn't aware that her mask had really no deeper meaning to it except to conceal her facial features. He wasn't sure if removing it was some ancient forbidden act written in Outworld law, or if it was simply taking off a mask.

Cassy: Or that Kiss of Death Fatality was comin' up.

Either way once it was pulled down showcasing Kitana's full pink lips, nose, cheeks and chin, Kyle was in awe. He was able to guess before that she was gorgeous just based on imagination and what he had seen of her up to this point, and yet he still couldn't have prepared himself to be confronted with this Goddess of a woman sitting only feet away from him now. And without being able to stop it, barely above a whisper, "Wow..." Escaped his mouth practically acting with a mind of its own.

James: Know what else acted with a mind of its own?
Jessie: And he finished the riff.

A prideful smile presented itself on the Princess, if she didn't for any reason have his full attention before, she certainly had it now.

Cassy: Same with Stu Jr.
Amy: *facefaults*
Mai: We're really going above and beyond with the penis jokes, aren't we?
Sonic: Yep.

The ties came lose on her mask with a gentle tug and she took it off completely, placing it onto the table between them. Never taking her eyes off of the teen for a second, she watched his every move, how he reacted to her and even kept tabs on the rise and fall of his chest with each breath he took. She could tell he was nervous, much more so than herself, but she knew that showing her whole face to him was the first step in garnering more trust from him and hopefully moving onto something deeper.

Emi: Insert hormone joke here.
Sonic: I know that this fic's supposed to have natural reactions and stuff, but you know... the author's note in the first chapter kinda gave us the free ammo.

"Are you ok?" She asked teasingly.

Kyle blinked once, then twice before he quickly answered, "Yes! Absolutely."

Mai: *flatly* Squish.
Jessie: Pfft!

It was this that managed to bring Kitana to a small giggle. His absolute surprise over this and bewildered response to her being coy just caused a bubble to pop in her chest,

Sonic: ...and then a squealing alien popped out of it.

bringing her back that sense of fondness that she longed to have for years. And upon hearing her laugh, although small and quick, it made Kyle chuckle too at his own loss for words. "I'm uh...I'm great now actually." He finished off with now very much looking forward to the remainder of the night.

They talked, and talked, and talked, neither of them becoming aware of how the hours were ticking by.

Jessie: Oh, so they had oral sex.
Cassy, James: *snickers*
Manic: *plays a rimshot*
Amy, Emi, Keiko, Mai: *facepalms*
Sonic: *high fives Manic* Thanks, bro.
Manic: No problem!

Both were just content with each others company and learning more about their lives. Kyle was practically an open book to her for the most part, he told her about his home in Rhode Island and that he was still a student. But he was far more interested in fighting then anything the educational system had to offer him.

Sonic: And look at how that treated a person by the name of Kyo Kusanagi.
Amy: He's going to hate us even more now.

Kitana only spoke about herself and the tournament, she didn't touch on her family very much and if Kyle tried to ask she would cleverly dodge the question with either an 'I'm not sure, or I don't know but...' and lead into another question about him. This didn't bother him that much but he did make a note of it in his head that she wouldn't talk about it. Whether or not she simply didn't want to, or wasn't allowed to though was still up for debate. Still, he wouldn't let a few unanswered questions spoil this interaction for him, he even eventually got comfortable enough to not be so uptight in his chair. Being able to lean forward resting his elbows and weight onto his knees while the Princess leaned back and crossed her legs.

Jessie: Because, you know, the convo's gotta be all about him.
Keiko: To be fair, your average reader here would already know about Kitana's past.

Staring was also something Kyle needed to work on resisting, he tried to focus on whatever she was talking about but every now and then his eyes would briefly wonder down her long legs before swiftly shooting back up to meet her eyes.

Emi: He's not like the other guys!
Mai: In a normal situation... I would probably chop my own tail off.
Emi: If only you were a lizard and not a squirrel.

Luckily though this happened a few times, Kyle didn't think she noticed.

She did.

But kept it to herself of course, her own ego inflating every time she spotted him trying to steal glances at her body but quickly correcting himself. It was almost adorable that he was fighting the urge to leer at her to try and be a gentleman.

All: *facepalms*
Sonia: Oh, my freakin' god!
Amy: She was bound to scream in frustration sooner or later.
Cassy: Yeah, the "it's cute that he's a pervert" thing is incredibly tired.

Neither of them felt tired, or actually realized what time it was until finally Kyle noticed that there was a slight glow emerging out from behind Kitana's dark hair.

"The sun's rising." He said and Kitana perked up sharply before she whirled in her seat to look out his window.

"It's really been that long? Then I must go now." Kitana said swiping her mask off of the table and quickly standing, without another word heading to the door. She remembered that Jade knew she would be here tonight but nobody else did. No guards did, Shang Tsung didn't, and neither did her father. "But Gods help me if my father knew..." She thought. In truth Kitana wanted to stay, she was learning so much about Kyle, even simple things like his favorite color and food intrigued her and she wanted to know more.

James: Like what's between his legs.
Keiko: Can't say anything about that. The fic pretty much said that to us about three million times.

But it appeared that there wasn't enough time, she needed to get back to her chambers before anyone noticed that she was gone.

Speedily Kyle followed her up as she neared the door, "Wait!" He called wincing as the rapid movement stirred an ache in his injured arm. The Princess stopped in her tracks but didn't stop tying her mask back on. "Can I see you again?" That made her stop.

All: No.

Despite talking with him all night, and being so happy to finally spend time with this man, she actually didn't expect him to request another meeting with her. For some reason she just assumed she would have to sneak back a second time and break in once more. But now here she was turning her head to look back at the boy asking if he could see her again.

Life was strange, but she was loving it.

Cassy: And I'm starting to hate it. Can I go back into my coffin so someone can put me six feet underground?

"Tonight." She told him, "I'll come back tonight." And the last thing she saw before she whisked her body through his door, was him smiling.

The ground beneath her felt like air as her heels hit it repeatedly in her path to get home. She hadn't felt this alive in so long, this boy she had been so curious about and practically fawning over was finally in her life. And she meant what she said, she would come back tonight, and the next night if he wanted. It would be tricky evading her guards so many times in a row but it could be done. And it would be done, whatever it took to keep this fluttering feeling in her chest, she would do it. And as she flicked her blue hood back up, already she was counting the seconds until she could see Kyle again.

All: *bored*
Amy: In case you needed even more character shilling.

"This is a bad idea my lady." One sentence from out of nowhere, was like a knife into the heart of Kitana's bliss. And unfortunately it was the same voice she had spoken to previously about this entire endeavor.

After stopping cold in her tracks she realized she'd been too in her own world to have realized that she was here, "Jade...we've spoken about this..." Kitana didn't even have to turn around to know that Jade had approached her and was now standing only a few yards away.

James: Yeah, and you're still acting like your brains are between your legs. Never mind; everyone who's bloody horny in this fic is like that.
Emi: ...that's only two people.
James: And I can't stand either of them.

"This isn't who we are. I know you want to keep going with this but please listen to reason, you are Edenian. He is mortal, what can become of you two?

Sonic: Who's Liu Kang again?
Jessie: According to this fic... some annoying and arrogant kung-fu guy.

You must focus on what we're doing here and now, the tournament is what truly matters. You're father is so close to winning once and for all, and Black Scar is trying to stop him, have you even thought about that?"

Mai: Since when did this moronic version of her ever stop to think?

She paused only for a moment then continued, "I know you're infatuated, but you must know the extent of what you're trying to do Kitana. This isn't right, and you know that..." Again there was a long drawn out air of silence.

Kitana said nothing as she hastily walked away leaving Jade alone to wonder if she was heard at all.

Jessie: Horniness beats hearing in this fic.

A.N. Well it's shorter than what it was suppose to be, but at least it's somewhat similar.

Sorry for one week turning into longer than a week but I had several family emergencies that required a lot of attention, and I got fired from my job so there's that :P. And yes, I absolutely half-assed the second half of this chapter because after the event that erased it before it was such a freaking drag to write again.

Keiko: Life happens. Nobody's going to come after you for it.

But at least I'm back, I'm happy this chapter is done regardless of the fact that it's pretty much a hastily and angrily put together copy of its former self due to the computer shitting itself before.

Cassy: ...this... was half-assed?
Sonic: Gonna keep saying it, we've read much worse than this.

In the original there was much more in depth talking between Kyle and Kitana but in this I kind of just time lapsed it so you guys kind of can fill in the blanks. Don't worry though, this is by no mean the end of their interaction, faaaaar from that.

Mai: Well, that makes us miss the long and dull paragraphs of shilling for now.

I'm gonna try to update again in July twice because I've missed so much time as is and hey I'm unemployed now so I got free time. Well excluding the fact that I'm trying to start a you tube channel. Fingers crossed that, that works out.

Emi: No, we don't know what the channel is. And even if we did, we wouldn't drop the name.

I hope you guys aren't too pissed at how long this took, please leave a review and let me know what you thought. I love to hear from all of you :)

James: It sucks slightly less.
Amy: Darn it, Mr. Daniels! How about an actual review?
James: ...I am reviewing.
Amy: *makes a face*

Next Chapter: Our Past

Cassy: And it all started 1800 years ago...
Emi, Keiko: *groans*
Keiko: We hear enough about that from Kusanagi. We don't need a cat clone to twist the knife.
