Riffer Collab Obscure References
For Season Seven

--

Four Riffers, Episode 9: Crescent Variation and Crescent variation altered story
(Riffers: Jessie, James, Miyuki, Tomoko)

(Part One)

I guess that taking the subway home is not so bad after all.
Tomoko: Yeah, when you compare that sentence to the other fic that this guy wrote? Ooh, boy.

Reference to the subway scene from "Outcast Saga Lost in Sailor Moon World".

James: *confused* She gave him her lips? Is she Mrs. Potato Head?
Jessie: Rory was right. This really is the Cult of Benji.

Another reference to "Outcast Saga", this time referring to the part where Hotaru offered her eyes for the Stu's recovery.

Tomoko: Was it in the first gear? Baby's first bike, probably?

Another "Outcast Saga" reference, where two other motorcycle riding riffers (Sonia and Kyo K.) made fun of the Stu for riding in the first gear while trying to be "edgy".

And he
Miyuki: ...was smeared all over the pavement. Nobody really noticed.

Reference to a riffing of a hilariously terrible Tekken fanfic, where Kazuya was one of the three riffers (the other two were Lars and Jin). The entire line from Kazuya? "Their hormones are all imbalanced and wrong, thus they are sick, teeny bopping asswipes. Smear them on pavement, I'm sure no one would really notice."

Jessie: Or I can just call Sabrenagi. He'd know what to do with parks.
James: Fine, I'll begin locating him and that Mary Sue Chaos Emerald that you told me about, then.

Callback to "Sabrina's Adventure 2: Return of Sabrina". Ironically, Jessie wasn't present for that part of the fic... because James substituted for her.

(Part Two)

James: No, Benji, you are the demons.
Jessie: And then Benji was a zombie.

"Doom: Repercussions of Evil" is being referenced again.

Jessie: I'd rather read my creator's writing again. I miss that mess.

The fic that Jessie is referring to? "Kusanagi's Wrath" of all fics.

James: I didn't know that LeMaire wanted to eat him that badly!

Callback to Kyo L.'s attempt to fry and eat the Stu during "Outcast Saga".

Jessie: Looks like Kyo's getting that party that he so desperately wanted.

Callback to Kyo L.'s phone call to Jessie when he riffed "Outcast Saga".

(Part Three)

James: He don't know much about history, and don't know much about biology.
Jessie: And he don't know much about a science book.
James: But I can demonstrate all the French that I took, because what the fuck is this?

Jessie and James are (sorta... mostly...) referencing Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World".

James: Because true love means leading your lover on in a giant lie for two thirds of a year. Good lord, Pod Michiru, stop drinking the Stu's creamy Flavor Aid!
Jessie: Again... it looks like Rory was definitely right. This really
is the Cult of Benji.

Another "Outcast Saga" reference, which refers to the Flavor Aid comment from Kyo K. in that riffing.

Three Riffers, Episode 7: An Open Letter to Rey from Star Wars
(Riffers: Sonia, Kyo L., Akiko)

Sonia: Careful with that, Akiko. *sarcastically* You might gain some weight.

Sonia is mocking the initial line that caused her to punch the resident Gary Stu from "Outcast Saga".

Akiko: *throws a rose at the screen* You have no dignity!

Akiko is referencing Dudley's infamous win pose from the "Street Fighter III" series.

Four Riffers, Episode 10: Mike put his frosting in Bella's cake
(Riffers: Miyu, Kyo K., Keiko, Axl)

(Part Two)

Kyo: Um... uh... rough sex isn't supposed to draw blood. Author, are you stupid? Have you been hanging out with that Akira moron who tried to stop blood spurts with tampons?

Yes, that was a thing from "KOF-XXX".

(Part Three)

Axl: Maybe he should start making out with himself. Someone's probably painting a mural of that right now.

Axl's referencing a mural that was painted in Australia that depicted Kanye West making out with himself. (The mural has been painted over.)

Six Riffers, Episode 1: Emily H the Viking Princess
(Riffers: Manic, Cassy, Benimaru, Emi, Mai, Rory)

(Part One)

Emi: This must've been how "babbies" were formed.

Yes, it's another "how is babby formed" reference.

Manic: Ivanka the Viking Princess.
Cassy: We're
so getting sued now, dude.

Reference to a certain human cheeto who said that he would date his own daughter if he wasn't related to her...

Cassy: Miss... Emily.
Emi: *glares at Cassy* Stop.

Another jab at the Esaka Destiny "Saga".

Manic: More like a graduate of the cullengirl13xxx School of Writing.

Reference to the one who wrote "Defying Destiny", a fic that Manic and his group riffed way back in Season 1.

(Part Two)

the hilt silver and increasted with green jems.
Manic: Truly outrageous.

Yes, Manic's referencing the tagline for "Jem".

Rory: How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real?
Cassy: *elbows Rory* Shut up, Jaden.

Yes, that's a reference to the infamous (and hilarious) tweet.

Rory: Are we watching "Puma Man"?

Another reference to Crow T. Robot's "boff in the air" line from that MST3K episode.

(Part Four)

Mai: As long as Kyo's not the one who is writing, we'll be okay.

Reference to Kyo K.'s bad writing from the "Marielle" riffing.

Three Riffers, Episode 8: The New Girl (KRZR24 version)
(Riffers: Sonic, Amy, Tails)

(highlight between the brackets for spoiler) [Backup Riffers: Sonia, Manic, Miyu]

(Part One)

Tails: Hello. We're with Microsoft Technical Support...
Sonic: The editor's going to come after your butt in a minute, Tails. I hope you're ready.

Yes, it's a real life thing. The editor did get scam calls like these. (He's not stupid, he knew they were scams.)

(Part Two)

"OK that's great Sonic, we'll get the AC, and then later you can get your chili dogs," said Shadow.
Amy: I hope they're poisoned with C4.

Reference to a Vinesauce stream regarding Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, where Joel... blew everything up after offering free pizza.

Sonic: To quote my sister from a very long time ago... "And you wonder why most of today's girls have image issues."

It was a very long time ago. Taken from the "Meet Shyloh" riffing, of course!

Amy: I think the Black Crow riffers know about the "nothing means something" thing.

Yet another "Sabrina's Adventure 2" reference.

(Part Four)

Sonic: They go together like BP, Exxon... and oceans.

References to the Exxon oil spill and the BP oil spills, obviously.

Tails: I also realized something. If the Sue lives in a giant house... then why did she brag about ripping off an old man?
Sonic: I think she's related to Donald Trump, not Amy Rose.

Yes, Sonic's referring to the time where the failed business mogul... tried to kick an elderly widow out of her house so he could have it paved for a limousine parking lot.

(Part Twelve)

Sonic: It's not funny! It's never been funny! It's never gonna be funny!

Reference to a "Dragon Ball Abridged Kai" episode.

Sonic: Uh-oh, it's Crazy Amy!
Amy: Do
not call me that. "Angry Amy" will be just fine, thank you!

And why did Amy say that? Because of the infamous "Amy's Baking Company" episode from "Kitchen Nightmares".
