For Episodes 6-8

Episode 6 - Starting Fresh (Short: Deep in my heart)

Sonic: Bob Johnson.
Amy: It said "her", Sonic.
Sonic: I know; I'm still sticking with Bob Johnson.

It's one of the nicknames given to the title character in "Space Mutiny". Specifically, the one that didn't fit.

Sonic: I've never been this dumbfounded over a name before.
Manic: You must've forgotten about "Symphony Callestro", bro.

Call back to "INFECTION".

Sonic: Ah, jeez! Ash's Pikachu, would you get outta there? We're not repeating the beginning of your journey!

Reference to the very first episode of the Pokémon anime.

Manic: *singing* Crawling in my skin... these wounds, they will not heal...

Very obvious, isn't it?

Amy: It then plunged into the peaceful darkness and stayed there...
Sonic: It'd be nice if you'd never make another shout out to that migraine inducing fic, Ames.

What's the "migraine inducing fic" that Sonic's referring to? It's "The White Hedgehog".

Manic: If this counts for drama, I'd hate to see what flies for sitcoms nowadays.
Sonia: Let me point you towards the American version of "Coupling", dear brother.

I think this riff says enough. But, if you'd really like to go into detail... let's just say that it was so bad, that even BBC America decided to air the original episodes on their channel so that viewers in America could see how it was supposed to be.

Sonic: Doesn't this remind you all of another certain fic?
Amy: Yep. We're certainly reading a
powerful introduction here.

Extremely obvious shout out to "Ultimate".

Sonic: This'll also be the day where she oneshots everyone!
Manic: Man, this girl's gonna be worse than Tobias!

Yes, both quotes are required to get this seemingly obscure reference. Tobias is pretty much hated for cheapshotting Ash out of the Sinnoh League competition in the anime with his legendary Pokemon. If you've read "Ultimate", Sonia does a jab at said legendary trainer, but she doesn't drop the name.

Episode 7 - Why Men Cheat in the Summer

Manic: Charlie Sheen's on the loose again! Lock up your doors and windows, ladies! And hide that cocaine!

Yeah, the guy's divorced again. Blah, blah, blah, did cocaine, porn stars, domestic abuse. There's something seriously wrong with this man.

Manic: Or maybe he's trying to watch something on the giant TV in the bar. Do you seriously think that we're all cheating a-holes who deserve a first class whipping on "Maury", ma'am?

Sonic: Screw the politics, let's put him on "Maury"!
Manic: Guilty until proven guilty!

If Maury's not doing paternity tests, he's always doing lie detector/infidelity tests. And yes, the accusing woman is always right, no matter how innocent the guy actually is.

Manic: I'm guessing that this lady's had a lot of bad relationships and is trying to make other women feel as miserable as her.
Sonia: *shifts eyes* Doctor
Kathryn Kirschner.
Sonic, Amy: *shudders*

It's self-explanatory; yet another "White Hedgehog" jab. It must be the Egg Spiral's version of "Twilight".

Amy: The solution is to go and worship Lorena Bobbitt in front of him.
Sonic, Manic: *shudders*

There's a reason why the Sonic Underground brothers are shuddering. Lorena Bobbitt (actually Lorena Gallo now) was known for cutting off a part of her ex-husband's penis. Yes, it was found and surgically re-attached after a nine and a half hour surgery.

Sonia: Ladies, stop treating your guy like he's a prison inmate! This isn't "Twilight" in reverse here!

Been a while since we've seen a "Twilight" jab, huh? This references "Eclipse", actually. In the beginning chapters, Edward forbids Bella to see her friend, He even disabled her truck engine to prevent her from going.

Episode 8 - Saranghamnida

(Part One)

Sonia: I guess they couldn't find her brothers Verano, Otoño, or Invierno.

It's only obscure if you don't know your seasons in Spanish. Verano, Otoño, and Invierno refer to Summer, Fall, and Winter, respectively. The reason why Sonia refers to the other seasons as "brothers" is because of the fact that they begin with "El", a masculine term, while "Primavera" begins with "La", a feminine term.

Sonic: That's it? Packing? Watching "Crossroads" would be a lot more exciting than this.

Sonic is referring to the Britney Spears film, which was panned for being too cliché and cheesy.

Manic: I wonder if she got her speaking lessons from the Everest Guy.

Manic is talking about the Everest Institute commercials, which used to feature a guy in a baseball cap who berates you for not being in school... even when you're in school. He's been (understandably) parodied to high heaven on YouTube.

Sonic: State of the Union.
Manic: Man, nobody saw that movie. Come on.

It is kind of true; nobody really saw the sequel to "xXx" (pronounced Triple X). Some people didn't really know it even existed.

Sonic: Before he started World War III, mind you.

It's only obscure if you haven't brushed up on your Tekken history. In the story of Tekken 6, Jin (of all people), takes over the Mishima Zaibatsu and starts a global war.

Manic: Honestly? I'd rather read about that "Grrrl Powah!" hedgehog again.

Call back to "Meet Shyloh", the group's first riffed fic.

(Part Two)

Manic: If I wanted to read a stupid random fic, I'd pick anything that has us in high school.

If Sonic fics don't have their Sues being paired up with Shadow, or have their millionth recolor from the ARK own everyone, the cast is usually in high school. And that's not a pleasant thing.

Manic: Just wait until the lazy parents complain; they'll turn into fruit and veggie monsters right after that.

Reference to "Sesame Street", where the Cookie Monster now eats fruits and veggies and says that cookies are a "sometimes food". Of course, most people weren't happy.

Manic: She must've joined Serenity in that LSD thing.

Call back to the third part of "Defying Destiny".
