BMC firmware update utility produces garbage characters
Copy ANSI.SYS to the root of the floppy. If the floppy was created from Microsoft Windows* 98, the file must be copied from the C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND directory. If the floppy was created from DOS, the ANSI.SYS file must be copied from the C:\DOS directory.

Chassis intrusion switch doesn't fit with STL2 and SR2050
There is not enough clearance to attach to the 6A connector because the PCI add-in card is indented. Connect to jumper 1L4, pins 3-5.

General Fault LED Stays Lit
Possible causes
  1. Power supply is bad.
  2. A system fan is bad.
  3. The front panel cable that is being used is not the right one for the server board. Please see TA-306-x for further information.
  4. The CPU fan for CPU 0 is plugged into the Y position fan connector (System fan connector FAN1A (P11)). The CPU fan should be plugged into the fan connector in position AA (Primary processor heatsink fan connector (P12)) in the upper left hand corner of the server board. (See page 6 of the Intel® STL2 Server Board Quick Start Guide).

Hot Swap Controller (HSC) firmware update is not possible
The Intel® STL2 Server Board and Intel® SBT2 Server Board do not support an I2C interface connection between the server board and the chassis' hot swap backplane / SAF-TE card.
An Intel® L440GX+ Server Board may be installed in the chassis in order to perform the HSC firmware update.

How to install Microsoft Windows NT* Small Business Server 4.0
Create installation disks. From the SBS CDROM disk #1/i386 directory run a:\winnt.exe /ox from a dos boot, or a:\winnt32.exe /ox from a Windows NT or Windows 2000 machine, to create 3 installation diskettes.
Copy winnt.sif from the SBS CDROM disk #1 i386 directory to install disk #2.
Modify the winnt.sif from:
[Network]
DetectAdapters=a:\
to:
[Network]
DetectAdapters=no
This will fail the network adapter detection and install the Microsoft Loopback adapter.
Start the server with installation disk #1.
Insert disk #2 when prompted and press.
Insert disk #3 when prompted and press.
Press to specify additional drivers.
Insert Intel Adaptec SCSI driver diskette and press.
Insert disk 3 when prompted and press.
This will install SBS, without the LAN adapter. After SBS has been installed, it will be necessary to install the Intel LAN adapter with the updated Intel LAN drivers, and delete the Microsoft Loopback adapter.
You must have the modem attached to the server and powered on before the SBS installation starts. Please see the Microsoft readme file for SBS located at the root of the SBS CDROM #1.

Integrated SCSI controller not working
Make sure "SCSI Controller" and "integrated SCSI Option ROM" are enabled in BIOS, and that jumper block J15 only has a single jumper on pins 11-12.

SCSI disk size is reported incorrectly under the SCSI Disk Utilities when using large hard drives.
This is a cosmetic issue, and does not affect how the OS addresses the hard drive.
