Only the Intel® Server Boards T440BX, S845WD1-E, S875WP1-E, and SE7505VB2 have an AGP slot to allow an AGP video card to be plugged in.

Update BMC to 1.11 before updating to BMC 1.14.

Error: No Valid Controller Found with a Zero Channel RAID Controller
Disable the Adaptec* Host* RAID option:
  1. During POST, while the Adaptec* Option ROM is initializing, press the [CTRL+A] key combination.
  2. From the device menu that appears, select a channel and press Enter.
  3. From the Main Options menu, select Disable HostRAID and press Enter. (If the controller has two channels, make sure that steps 1 through 3 are performed for the second channel)
  4. Save and exit.


Fan Connector placement on the Intel® Server Chassis SC5250-E
Connect the rear chassis fan to the "SYS FAN 2" header on the server board and the front hard drive fan to "SYS FAN 5".

Guidelines for Using the SCSI Y-Cable with Two Backplanes Connected
Connect the I2C cables to the correct HSBP headers on the motherboard to corerctly assign SCSI IDs. You may also need to disable termination on the SCSI controller.

Hot Swap Backplane Driver does not Install in Microsoft Windows Server 2003*
If a yellow '!' persists in Device Manager, use the following method to install the driver:
  1. Download the Intel® SCA Backplane HSBP driver for Microsoft Windows* Server 2000
  2. Go to Device manager and delete ESG-SHV item from “Other Devices” tree
  3. Choose Actions > Scan for hardware changes
  4. Select Options > Don’t auto detect > Select from list
  5. From the list of Devices select "System"
  6. Choose "Have Disk"
  7. Browse to extracted Windows 2000* driver, and select "Intel® SCA Backplane"
  8. Override the driver signing warnings and choose "Install anyway"


How to set up LAN Alerts

On the managed server:
Boot to the System Setup Utility (SSU) from either the Service Partition or the System Resource CD > Platform Event Manager > Configure LAN > Enable LAN Alerts

On the client side:
Install Intel® Server Management > Start > Programs > Intel Server Management > LAN Alerts Viewer > Configure

System Event Log #83
The BMC logs one or two system boot events in the SEL when the BIOS finishes POST. These messages are normal.

Unknown Devices in Device Manager
Ethernet Controller unknown devices refer to the on-board Network Card PRO/100 Adapter ESG-SHV SCA HSBP M15 SCSI Processor Device refers to the Hotswap Backplane of the SC5200 chassis. The unknown PCI Device and System Interrupt Controller refers to the E7501 Chipset.

VRM is not needed when integrating processor(s)
The baseboard has a single, integrated VRM (Voltage Regulator Module) to support up to two processors. It is compliant with the VRM 9.1 specification and provides a maximum of 130 AMPs.

Which PCI Slot can the Zero Channel RAID Card be installed in?
The ZCR cards are only supported in PCI-X Slot 4.

Windows 2000 Advanced Server* recognizes only 4 GB of memory
The /PAE option must be enabled in the ARC path in the boot.ini file in order for Windows* 2000 to recognize memory above 4.0GB (e.g. multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows 2000 Advanced Server" /PAE /basevideo /sos).

Yellow Exclamation Mark (!) in Device Manager under Ports (Com & LPT)
Check that the Chassis Intrusion Switch is connected to the correct header (J1C3) and not the Emergency Management Port in use jumper (J1C2). Clear the CMOS, then remove the AC cord and the CMOS battery completely for a few seconds.
