EMP "Always active" mode
EMP can be configured for modem mode and either "always active" or "pre-boot only" in BIOS set-up. In "always active" mode, COM2 is not available to the OS. EMP will answer all calls to a modem connected to COM2. In "pre-boot only" mode, EMP will only be active while powered down, and during POST; making COM2 and the modem available to the OS.

Onboard SCSI
The Intel® SC450NX server has an embedded Symbios* SYM53C896 dual channel LVD/SE (Ultra2/Ultra) SCSI controller and a Low Voltage Differential (LVD Ultra2/Ultra) hot swap backplane.
The SYM53C896 supports SE mode with 8-bit (10 MB/s or 20 MB/s) or 16-bit (20 MB/s or 40 MB/s) transfers and LVD mode with 8-bit (40 MB/s) or 16-bit (80 MB/s) transfers.
To install drivers for Novell Netware* 4.11, choose SYMHINW.HAM and Slot Number 10002

One and a half VRMs should be installed for each processor that is used on the board. The VRMs should be populated in the same order as the processors, i.e. if two processors are installed in the bottom two slots, three VRMs should be installed in the bottom three VRM slots.
