Microsoft SNA Server 2.11 Description: Update to SNA Server 2.1 Windows 3.x client components. Date: 8/23/95 Summary: This SNA Server 2.1 update includes the Win 3.x client modules shipped with SNA Server 2.11. These client binaries will work against SNA Server 2.1 servers, and fixes the 2.1 problems described below. MICROSOFT STRONGLY RECOMMENDS UPGRADING TO 2.11 as soon as possible. The 2.11 upgrade cost is $409 per SNA Server, regardless of the number of clients being used. There is no cost to upgrade existing SNA Server 2.1 clients to the 2.11 level. Modules included: SNA Server 2.11 Windows 3.x client modules \WNAP.EXE 06/27/95 02:11a 44,032 \SYSTEM\WDMOD.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 71,680 \SYSTEM\LMCLI.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 10,480 \SYSTEM\NWCLI.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 14,752 \SYSTEM\IPCLI.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 11,840 \SYSTEM\BVCLI.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 11,664 \SYSTEM\WINAPPC.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 91,760 \SYSTEM\WINCPIC.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 98,480 \SYSTEM\WINRUI.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 45,440 \SYSTEM\WINSLI.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 43,504 \SYSTEM\WINMGT.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 29,995 \SYSTEM\WINCSV.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 31,712 \SYSTEM\WINTRC.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 46,080 \SYSTEM\WLOGTR.DLL 06/27/95 02:11a 89,088 traced components: TWDMOD.DLL - traced version of WDMOD.DLL TWNAP.EXE - traced version of WNAP.EXE TLMCLI.DLL - traced version of LMCLI.DLL TIPCLI.DLL - traced version of IPCLI.DLL TNWCLI.DLL - traced version of NWCLI.DLL TVBCLI.DLL - traced version of IPCLI.DLL NOTE: Keep traced versions of components in case tracing is requested by SNA Server support personnel. COMPRESS.EXE: Utility to compress the client files to support over-the-network SNA Win 3.x client installation. Description of problems fixed: 2866 WinCSV doesn't export WinAsyncCSV() xxxx Support NetSoft shared folders over netware ipx/spx. Fixes include: 1. NS/Folders support for IPX/SPX (NetSoft) 2. Sign-on dialog doesn't show domain name when LogonUserName is used. 3. The number of SPX buffers per connection is now configurable 4. WNAP icon status may appear with "blue" status in error 2858 Win16 LUA library does not export the function WinRUIGetLastInitStatus(). xxxx GetAppcConfig() incorrectly reports LU count when buffer too small. 2888 SLI_RECEIVE problem using init_type PRIM_SSCP 2920 Wnap logon dialog only defaults 14 character domain name 2891 APPC library returns TP_BUSY if it is called from a Windows procedure in a SendMessage(). The SNA Server Win 3.x APPC interface will return a TP_BUSY error to an application if it calls into the APPC interface from a Windows procedure from SendMessage(). To disable this check (which may open the possibility of deadlocks within Windows), SendMessageCheck=NO can be added to the [wnap] section of WIN.INI. 2951 NS/Router fails on TCP/IP if WNAP is auto-started. Correct problem where NS/Router fails to initialize when WNAP is autostarted and TCP/IP is being used between the client and server. 2935 Unloading and reloading Win16 RUI causes RUI_INIT to fail. Correct problem which can occur when the Win 3.x WINRUI.DLL is unloaded and reloaded by an RUI application. xxxx Support automatic unloading of the WNAP (SNA client) process using the new "AutoTerminate" parameter. 2969 WNAP GP-fault in WNAP.EXE when receiving sponsor message. When running multiple SNA Servers in a domain, under certain conditions the server may send a service table update to all attached SNA Server Windows 3.x clients causing WNAP to encounter a GP-fault in WNAP.EXE. 2977 Yielding problem in win16 winappc over tcp/ip. Correct problem using NetSoft when running over the SNA Server client TCP/IP interface 2976 WinRUIStartup and WinRUICleanup's logic has an error. 2987 CPIC does not store the user ID in the cmaccp processing, causing subsequent calls to extract the user ID to fail. 2943 Closing APPC application on Windows 3.x client causes GP-Fault 2938 MC_DEALLOCATE(abend) does not cancel pending RECEIVE_AND_WAIT verb 3029 CPI-C library cannot cope with one application invoking and being invoked 3030 LocalLus setting causes 3270 LU names to appear twice. Correct problem where LocalLU's show up twice in a 3270 emulator when the LocalLU feature is being used on a Win 3.x client. 3161 Send Data of type Confirm does not return RTS received 3143 Cancelling a pending cmallc with a cmcanc may cause a gp-fault 3376: Win 3.x client "582" error popup when autostarting APPC/CPIC app Applying the update: ------------------- - Stop any SNA applications and the SNA Windows 3.x client software - Rename the above modules located in the directories indicated above - Copy the updated modules to the directories indicated above and restart the SNA client and any SNA applications. To support over-the-network client installation: 1) XCOPY the SNA Server Win 3.x client files from the SNA Server 2.1 CD-ROM to a shared network location: XCOPY \CLIENTS\WIN3X\*.* C:\PUBLIC\WIN3X\*.* /s /e /v 2) Compress all of the files included in this update (see COMPRESS.TXT for instructions). For example: COMPRESS WNAP.EXE WNAP.EX$ COMPRESS WDMOD.DLL WDMOD.DL$ : 3) Apply the compressed versions of the client files to the shared network directory: COPY *.??$ \WIN3X\*.* 4) Users should first remove their existing SNA Win 3.x client software by running the SNA Client Setup program icon and choosing the Remove option. 5) Once removed, run the SNA Server Win 3.x setup program from the shared network directory which contains the latest SNA Server Win 3.x client files.
