Microsoft Windows NT 3.51

Status: Hotfix to Windows NT 3.51 spooler.  This update is newer than NT 3.51 
Service Pack #2, and is planned to be included in NT 3.51 Service Pack #4 during 
first quarter 1996. This hotfix has not undergone full regression testing.

Modules updated (all platforms):

 <ntroot>\system32\localspl.dll
 <ntroot>\system32\win32spl.dll

NOTE: This update only includes the Intel version of this hotfix.  To obtain
the update for other platforms, contact Microsoft product support.

The symbols for these components (localspl.dbg, win32spl.dbg) should be 
saved and applied in your <winroot>\symbols\dll directory if requested by 
support personnel.

Description of fix:

3851  Allow Windows NT service to connect to a network printer resource.  
      Without this update, a local printer must be defined and the service 
      must connect through a local printer.

Applying the update:

- login to Windows NT using an administrator account

- run the following command to install the hotfix:

    HOTFIX /I

- restart your Windows NT 3.51 machine


Information about the HOTFIX utility:

HOTFIX can be used to install and remove specific hotfixes to your system,
and see what hotfixes have been applied. Run "hotfix /?" for list of command
options.   When installing, the hotfix utility will:

- save the previous version of the DLL's.

- add a "hotfix" entry to the registry 

- apply the updated modules.
