NetShow Presenter

NetShow Presenter is a PowerPoint add-in tool that helps you synchronize a PowerPoint presentation into an ASF stream. This add-in enables PowerPoint to:

Connect with the Real-Time Encoder
Send URL script commands to the Real-Time Encoder
Export presentation slides
Create and control a PowerPoint presentation that remote users can watch over the network on their own desktop.

For a real world example of how NetShow Presenter can add to a NetShow stream, suppose a company's CEO is giving a presentation to the heads of several companies. Because of time constraints and other commitments, many employees who would like to attend the presentation cannot. With NetShow and NetShow Presenter, the CEO can a live video feed of himself speaking along with synchronized images of his presentation slides. NetShow Server delivers the live video feed and NetShow Presenter allows the CEO to synchonize the delivery of the presentation slides to specific points in the live video feed. Any employee who wanted to watch the presentation could download the presentation web page and receive the presentation as if they were in same room as the presenter.

How does this work? NetShow Presenter is an important component, but to stream this information many other components come into play, such as the ASF Real-Time Encoder, NetShow Server, an FTP and HTTP server, PowerPoint 97, and NetShow Player. Because NetShow Presenter is designed to supplement an ASF stream, let's look at NetShow Presenter in it's role as adding information to an ASF stream.
