Monitoring and Logging Unicast Events

NetShow includes tools for monitoring and logging unicast events. Use the Unicast Monitor Events tool in NetShow Administrator to display events. Use the NetShow Server Event Log to store events in a database.

Both tools allow you to filter events by type: server, client, administrative, and alert. Server events are logged to indicate server status, for example, whether a server is online or offline. Client events are logged, for example, when a client connects or disconnects. Administrative events are logged when configuration settings are modified, for example, when the maximum number of clients or maximum bandwidth is modified. Alerts are logged when server configuration settings are exceeded, for example, when the maximum number of clients is exceeded. When you are monitoring or logging events, only messages of the event types you have selected are displayed or stored in the log.

The Unicast Monitor Events facility displays the following messages. The NetShow Server Event Log stores equivalent information. The date and time of each event is displayed or logged with the message.
