Creating a Publishing Point

Use Set Publishing Points to create publishing points. When creating publishing points:

• You must use a unique alias. If you enter the same alias for more than one publishing point, only the last entry will be preserved.
• If the alias you specify does not exist, it will be added, but when you create an alias that points to a directory, you must create the directory.

If you have never created a publishing point before, you should leave the Publishing Point Wizard check box selected, and let the wizard step you through the process. To create a publishing point without the wizard, click the Publishing Point Wizard box to remove the check mark, and use the following procedure.

To create a publishing point

1. Under Unicasts, click Set Publishing Points.
2. Click Add.

   

3. Type the alias for the directory in the Alias box. The maximum length is 256 characters.
4. If you are creating an alias for stored .asf files, type the directory path in the Directory path box. If you are administering the local server, you can use the Browse button to locate and select an existing directory.

   If you are creating an alias to point to live streams, specify the URL for the stream in the Directory path box. For more information on how to specify stream URLs, see Using Publishing Points.

5. Click Finish.
