Importing a Channel

You can import a channel that you have already created. For example, when you are setting up NetShow Server to multicast streams that originate from a NetShow distribution server, the channels you use to multicast must contain the same stream format information and, depending on your network configuration, can use the same destination IP address and port for the multicast. You can use the same address when, for example, the channel multicasts to clients on an isolated subnetwork where the address causes no address conflict. Rather than recreate each channel, you can import the .nsc file for each channel, or you can import the channel information directly from another NetShow server.

To import a channel from a channel file

  1. Under Channels, click Configure Channels.
  2. Click Import.

  3. Click Import a new channel from an existing channel file (.nsc), and then click Import.

  4. In the NetShow Administrator dialog box, locate the channel (.nsc) file and click Open.

The channel file is added to the list of channels.

To import a channel from another NetShow server

  1. Under Channels, click Configure Channels.
  2. Click Import.

  3. Click Import a channel from a remote NetShow Server, and then click Next.

  4. Type the name of the NetShow server whose channel you want to import in the Remote Server Name box, and then click Connect.

A list of channels available on the server is displayed.

  5. Click the channel you want to import, and then click Copy Channel.

The channel is added to the list of channels.
