DESCRIPTION:
This package contains a utility to update the System BIOS for the listed 
desktop models with a 7050 ROM Family. This utility works with the listed 
operating systems. 

The system BIOS can be updated directly from within the Microsoft Windows 
environment, or a bootable diskette or DriveKey can be created.

ENHANCEMENTS: 
- Adds Wake On LAN (WOL) Boot Order option to the F10 Setup Utility. Now, by 
default, if the desktop is awakened from the LAN, it boots to the LAN.

- Adds remote password setting to SSM support.

- Updates the preboot exectution environment (PXE) boot option ROM to version 
8.1.55.

- Provides user feedback that the F12 key has been pressed to boot from LAN.

- Deletes the Video Display Devices menu from F10 Setup to prevent possible 
loss-of-video issue.

- Displays the Internal Video Mode menu in F10 Setup (to allow disabling of 
integrated video) when the desktop is configured with a dual-head PCI card.

FIXES: 
- Fixes issue where the HP supplied Microsoft Windows Operating System CD 
(labeled "CD Kit 394378-xxx") does not start (boot) unless the desktop is also 
configured with a diskette drive.

- Fixes issue where the Microsoft Windows operating system shows a diskette 
drive in desktops that are not configured with a diskette drive.

- Fixes issue where an incorrect processor temperature reading is returned 
after resuming from Standby mode.

HOW TO USE: 
WARNING: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR ATTEMPT TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER DURING THE 
UPDATE PROCESS!

1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. 

3. Choose one of the following three options when presented:
- Create BIOS Flash Diskette. *
- Create BIOS Flash DriveKey (the DriveKey must be bootable; this option 
creates the files needed to be able to flash the BIOS from the DriveKey).
- Flash System BIOS Now! (this option enables the BIOS to be upgraded from 
within the Microsoft Windows operating system environment). *

* At the present time, the ''Create BIOS Flash Diskette'' and ''Flash System 
BIOS Now!'' options are only available for use on desktops that are running the 
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit) or Microsoft Windows Home Edition 
(32-bit) Operating Systems. These options are not available for use with 
desktops that are running the Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition 
Operating System.

NOTE: After the files have been unpacked, the .EXE file that was downloaded in 
Step 1 can be deleted, if desired.
