DESCRIPTION:
This package contains the Broadcom Wireless Utility for the listed notebooks,adapters, and operating systems.The Broadcom Wireless Utility is a wireless LAN application that replaces thedefault Microsoft Windows XP Windows Zero Configuration service. Once theBroadcom Wireless Utility is installed, the user is required to use the BroadcomWireless Utility to configure the Broadcom wireless device and to manage thewireless network connection. The Broadcom Wireless Utility is required for userswith the listed Broadcom adapters in order to connect to wireless networks thatuse Cisco Compatible Extensions. Users may also find the Broadcom WirelessUtility useful for advanced profile management, single-sign-on support, andadvanced diagnostics. Most home and small office, home office (SOHO) users donot need this functionality. If the Microsoft Windows XP Windows ZeroConfiguration service is required again, uninstall the Broadcom WirelessUtility.

ENHANCEMENTS:
- Provides Broadcom WLAN Utility, version 3.140.16.0, for use with Broadcom WLAN
Networks Adapter Driver 3.140.16.0.
- Adds Logging feature to the Diagnostics tab, which provides users with
visibility into connection activity and overall application behavior.
- Adds passive scans for beacons in the environment by the site monitor, which
reduces the impact of the scan on wireless environments (a directed scan does
occur with the associated application).
FIXES:
- Fixes miscellaneous localization issues.
- Fixes issue that occurred with single-sign-on and WPA-PSK security when
returning from Hibernation mode on notebooks running the Microsoft Windows
2000 Operating System.
- Resolves issue where a user could not supply a Server Name on the Server
Identity tab.
PREREQUISITES:
- Requires that SoftPaq Number SP31463, "Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver," is
installed before installing this SoftPaq.

HOW TO USE:
NOTE: Once installed, the Broadcom Wireless Utility takes control of Broadcom
wireless devices and the user must use the Broadcom Wireless Utility to
configure and manage Broadcom wireless devices. If the Microsoft Windows XP
Windows Zero Configuration service is required to configure and control Broadcom
wireless devices (which is the default), do not install this software. If the
Microsoft Windows XP Windows Zero Configuration service is required to control
Broadcom wireless devices after the Broadcom Wireless Utility has been
installed, uninstall the Broadcom Wireless Utility software and restart the
notebook.

1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard
drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen
instructions.

NOTE: After the files are unpacked, the Setup program should run automatically.
If the setup program (setup.exe) needs to be run manually, look for it in the
download directory.
