DESCRIPTION: This utility copies MSVCP70.DLL and MSVCR70.DLL back to the System32 directory to fix the issues described below:

After upgrading HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition for Windows from version 7.0.1 to version 7.40, some software applications such as Norton Antivirus and PCAnywhere may fail to start. This may also occur with other software applications that use the MSVCR70. DLL or MSVCP70.DLL files. When this occurs, any of the following may be observed:

The error message, This application has failed to start because MSVCR70.DLL cannot be found will be displayed. 

- PCAnywhere will not function. 
- The Symantic Event Manager service will not start. 
- The Symantic Settings Manager service will not start. 
- Various error messages containing the filenames MSVCR70. DLL or MSVCP70. DLL may be displayed.
- This occurs because during the installation of HP Insight Diagnostics for Windows Version 7.4.0, the uninstall script for the previous version (7.0.1) removes two Microsoft Runtime Library DLL files (MSVCR70.DLL and MSVCP70.DLL) from the System32 directory. The file removal occurs after the system is rebooted (during an upgrade to version 7.4.0) or after a manual uninstallation of version 7.0.1 using Add/Remove Programs.

Note : HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition for Windows is automatically installed with SmartStart 7.40 (or later). 
 
SCOPE
Any ProLiant server running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or any edition of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and upgrading HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition for Windows from version 7.0.1 to version 7.40.  
RESOLUTION
To restore the DLL files, perform either one of the following:

Download and install the Microsoft C Runtime Library Restore Utility, available as SoftPaq SP31350 at the following URL: (insert URL when available-advisory will not release until SP is posted)

OR

Manually copy MSVCP70.DLL and MSVCR70.DLL back to the System32 directory. MSVCP70.DLL and MSVCR70.D should be copied to the following location:

C:\hp\hpdiags\msvcp70.dll 
C:\hp\hpdiags\msvcr70.dll
A future release of the ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) for Windows will prevent the DLL files from being removed during an upgrade of HP Insight Diagnostics for Windows. 

 

HOW TO USE: 

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. After the softpaq files have been expanded, you may delete the downloaded softpaq file (sp30653.EXE).

3. There will be 3 files:
   restorevc.EXE, msvcr70.dll, msvcp70.dll
   
4. Run restorevc.EXE to restore the runtime dll's.
