Download the update file into a directory and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is a self-extract executable. Run the downloaded file to extract files. 2. From that drive and directory, double-click the file Setup.vbs to run the fix update script. This Setup.vbs script can also be run from the command line. From a Windows command prompt assuming c:\temp is the current path where the fix files are extracted to, type: c: \temp\cscript setup.vbs 3. After the program is installed the softpaq and all installation files expanded in the directory in step 1 can be deleted. Installing the update manually: 1. Download the update file into a directory and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is a self-extract executable. Run the downloaded file to extract files. 2. Go to: Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services and locate HP Power Manager 4.0 service. Click on the HP Power Manager service entry. Click Stop button from the menu to stop the service. 3. Copy the HIDCommunications.dll file from the Step 1 update file folder to \Program Files\HP\Power Manager assuming that is where HP Power Manager 4.0 software is installed. When asked to confirm file replacement, answer 'yes'. 4. Use instruction on Step 2 to restart the HP Power Manager service 5.
