Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number. 2. Self-extracting executable will launch Quick Release Sector Transfer utility (QRST5) that helps you in creating EFS diskettes. Follow the on-screen instructions. 3. If you have extracted and saved the following files in a directory for later use, you may create EFS floppies by following the procedure given in steps 4 till 10 below. SP31210._01 SP31210._02 SP31210._03 SP31210._04 QRST5.EXE README.TXT 4. Browse or change to the directory containing the files listed in step 3. Obtain 5 DOS formatted 1.44 MB diskettes IMPORTANT: Only 1.44 MB DOS formatted diskettes can be used, other types of media cannot be substituted. 5. Execute the QRST5.EXE program: QRST5 [ENTER] 6. When the "Select Diskettes in this set" prompt appears, choose the highlighted default selection "Do ALL of the diskettes in this set" by pressing ENTER. 7. The "Enter Destination Drive" prompt is given. Either A or B will be included in the prompt depending on where your 3.5 inch diskette drive is located. If the drive shown in the prompt is not the one you wish to use, change the value by pressing either A or B. At this point, you can optionally print a label (if your printer is attached) by pressing F9. Press ENTER to accept the diskette drive letter. The same screen will reappear. Press ENTER again to extract and decompress the diskette image. 8. The "Ready to copy diskette" prompt appears. It is asking for one 1.44 MB diskette. Verify that you have a formatted 1.44 MB diskette in the appropriate disk drive and press ENTER to begin diskette creation. 9. A counter box will be displayed during creation showing status. The number of cylinders will count up to 80 on a 1.44 MB floppy drive. 10. Repeat from step 7 until all four diskettes have been created. 11. When QRST5 has completed, it will exit back to DOS. At this point, the EFS 5.70a diskettes have been created and are ready to use. ---------- IMPORTANT: ---------- Please read all information in the README.TXT file on the documentation diskette before installing the EFS. NOTE: You can verify that you have valid EFS 5.70a diskettes by using the UNIX sum -r command: sum -r /dev/fd0 The following sum values should be displayed: BTLD : 23870 EFS DISK1: 09287 EFS DISK2: 53311 The Documentation diskette is not shown here with its checksum. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: HP facilitates "hp ProLiant Extended Feature Supplement 5.70a for SCO OpenServer Release 5" in tarball format also which can be downloaded to a SCO Unix system and installed without creating EFS diskettes. Please follow the steps given below to install EFS using tarball. 1. Download the tarball file "EFS-5.70a-osr5.tar.Z" to /tmp on a SCO Unix system. The "sum -r" value of this file should be 26827. 2. Change directory to /tmp i.e. "cd /tmp". 3. Execute "uncompress EFS-5.70a-osr5.tar.Z" to get the tarball file EFS-5.70a-osr5.tar. 4. Execute "tar -xvf EFS-5.70a-osr5.tar" to get the directory EFS-5.70a" containing the following: a. README.txt - this file provides information about hp ProLiant Extended Feature Supplement 5.70a for SCO OSR5 b. RELEASE_NOTES.txt - this file provides information about supported OS versions, hp ProLiant servers and the components available in EFS c. create_disks - script to create BTLD & EFS diskettes d. EFS - directory containing BTLD and VOL images 5. Execute the following to create BTLD and/or EFS diskettes and follow the prompts: cd ./EFS-5.70a ./create_disks 6. To install EFS, login as root on SCO Unix system. 7. Invoke "Software Manager(custom)" by executing "custom". 8. Press tab and select "Software -> Install New... -> <*> From ". 9. In "Select Media" window, select "Media Device: Media Images" and enter /tmp/EFS-5.70a/EFS when prompted for Image Directory & continue with the installation of EFS-5.70a. Alternatively you can also use "Floppy Disk Drive 0" as the "Media Device" and install EFS using EFS diskettes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright (c) 2003-2005 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
