PREREQUISITES: - ROM version 1.10 must be installed on the handheld before installing this SoftPaq. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. NOTE: When prompted, be sure to respond Yes to installing the files in the default location on the iPAQ handheld. Installing the files in an alternate location will prevent the application from running. INSTALLATION NOTES: IMPORTANT: Please observe the following restrictions: - Do not attempt to Power Off or restart the handheld while the update is in progress. - After applying a firmware (ROM) update, do not attempt to restore a backup that was made before the ROM update was installed. - Do not enable the device password feature during the update process. - Do not enable the owner information to be displayed when the handheld is powered on during the update process. To disable this feature, click “Owner” on the Today screen, then tap the "Options" tab, and then uncheck the box beside "Identification information." - If an error message is displayed during the update process, follow any available instructions to correct the condition and start the update again. - The update process can be performed while connected to a host PC either as a Guest or with an established partnership. IMPORTANT: Disable the Standby and Hibernation modes on the host PC. If Standby or Hibernation mode is activated during the upgrade process, a critical error may occur. IMPORTANT: Do not interact with the handheld or remove it from AC power or from the cradle/cable once the hourglass is displayed on the handheld and the actual firmware update has started. NOTE: This XIP firmware update does not change the ROM version. To confirm that the XIP firmware update was successful, check the XIP version number. To check the XIP version number, tap Start, then tap Settings, then tap the System tab, then tap the HP Asset Viewer icon, and then tap the Version tab. The XIP version is the last entry in the list. If this update has been successfully installed, the new XIP version number will be 4.21.15045.7. JAPANESE iPAQ UNITS ONLY: This SoftPaq installs two XIP updates for Japanese iPAQ units, one after the other. If this update has been successfully installed, the new XIP version number will be 4.21.15045.9. If the sound quality of a recording is still not normal after an alarm event, tap Start, then tap Settings, then tap System, then tap iPAQ Audio, and then tap Mic and uncheck/check the "Enable AGC" setting.
