Can be separate or on the same system.. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive. 2. Execute the downloaded file to extract the files. Unpack the .tgz file with 'tar -xvzf . An .iso file is unpacked. default: example boot config file for PXE rename as /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/AABBCCDD where name is HEX of client IP or range of IPs. It's ok to leave it named default if all systems on the subnet are client systems that are allowed to be autoinstalled. initrd-{version}: customized ram disk for installation kernel pxefashdom.img.[0-15]: Entire 512MB DOM image segmented into 16 parts (under 32MB each) vmlinuz-{version}: extracted Linux kernel HowToPXEFlashDOM.html: Document with an example of how to set up a Linux PXE Server and instructions on how to copy these files into place in order to install the Client Embedded OS to clients over the network. 3. Follow instructions in the HowToPXEFlashDOM.html file to prepare your Linux PXE Server before proceeding with the following steps. 4. Use cp -p to copy the following files to /tftpboot initrd-{version} pxeflashdom.img.* pxelinux.0 (installed as part of syslinux-devel package above) mkdir /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg Copy and rename default to /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/AABBCCDD where name is HEX of client IP or a range of IPs of clients allowed to be auto-installed with this image. 5. Initiate a network install Power-on the Client Press F12 to boot to the network The DHCP server will automatically assign an ip address to the client PXE server will automatically be detected and the auto install will begin After all 16 pieces of the image get written to the DOM, the client will be rebooted automatically.
