The batch file also searches for a duplicate MAC address issue that prevents accessing a network under any operating system. If a duplicate MAC address is found, the batch file displays a message instructing the user to contact Compaq for the necessary steps to resolve the issue. If the duplicate address is not found, the fix simply corrects the checksum problem and informs the user that this operation has taken place. No further action is needed if the duplicate address is not found. HOW TO USE: 1. Insert a blank floppy diskette into drive A of your machine. Then execute SP14009.EXE and let it build a boot diskette. 2. Boot the computer to the floppy drive using the diskette created by this Softpaq. The detection or correction of either of the two problems will take place automatically. The following files are contained on the boot diskette. DISPLAY.BAT BROW.EXE README.TXT Find.exe Choice.com 3. After the boot diskette has been executed at least once you may erase the diskette since the problem will either be fixed (the checksum issue) or the duplicate MAC address will be found.
