DESCRIPTION:    This RPM contains the HP Tested and Approved Linux
                NetXen flash utility nxflash and diagnostic tool nxudiag which is 
                packaged in the nx_tools-<version>.rpm.  The nxflash utility can be 
                used to update the firmware and BIOS whereas the nxudiag utility can
                be used to perform user diagnostics on the Server Adapters mentioned 
                in the PRODUCTS AFFECTED section.

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
   - Changed name from unmflash-<version>.src.rpm to nx_tools-<version>.rpm
   - Added nxudiag to nx_tools-<version>.rpm

Introduction
============
This file describes the installation and use of the 
nx_tools-<version>.rpm which is needed to upgrade firmware
and diagnose the Server Adapters in the PRODUCTS AFFECTED section. 

Packaging
=========
The nx_tools-<version>.rpm is released in a binary RPM format and 
contains the nxflash utility and nxudiag diagnostic tool.

IMPORTANT NOTE
==============
This rpm package contains the following firmware versions:
	
      NIC	  Version
      HP NC510F   3.4.114 
      HP NC510C   3.4.114 
      HP NC512m   3.4.115                               


Installing the RPM Package
=============================

1. Check for the existence of a current version of the nx_tools package as
   follows:
   # rpm -q nx_tools

   If an old version of the package exists, the RPM package should be
   removed.
   # rpm -e nx_tools

   Verify that the old nx_tools package has been removed as follows:
   # rpm -q nx_tools

2. Install the new nx_tools binary rpm.
   # rpm -ivh nx_tools-<version>.rpm

Note:  The rpm contents will be installed in /opt/netxen


Upgrading the Firmware with nxflash
===================================

Note: Ensure that the nx_nic driver is loaded before 
      proceeding with the firmware upgrade. 

1. Change to the installation directory
   # cd /opt/netxen

2. Update the firmware and BIOS for the specified interface
   # ./nxflash -i eth<x> --all

3. Verify firmware and BIOS version
   # ./nxflash -i eth<x> --info

4. Reboot the system to use the new firmware


User Diagnostics with nxudiag
==============================

Note: Ensure that the nx_nic driver is loaded before 
      proceeding with user diagnostics. 

1. Change to the installation directory
   # cd /opt/netxen

2. Execute diagnostics on the desired interface
   # ./nxudiag -i eth<x>


Uninstalling the RPM Package
=============================

The following command will uninstall the nx_tools RPM.
     # rpm -e nx_tools
