Chapter 3: Whatever Happened Anyway?

It is 7:15 AM. They (Sonic, Knuckette, Gary, and Tails) read the fifth page (the note). When they are done reading, Gary says, "Very well. Sonic, place Page 1 on the table. Tails, place Page 2 on the right edge of Page 1. Knuckette, place Page 3 under Page 1. I will place Page 4 right here to complete the picture." When instructed to do so, the picture shows Knux threatening Precious with a knife. Sonic looks at Knuckette and says, "Dang! Knux really got you there!... Didn't he?" Knuckette says angrily at Sonic, "No! You forget! Knuckles did this to me!" Then she says sweetly, "Although he may be himself again..." She then daydreams. "Huh!?" the confused Gary and Tails say. Sonic says, "Hey, Knuckette, you have a crush on Knuckles!" The embarassed Knuckette says, "I don't!" Gary says, "Yeah, you do! You've been this way since Knux was being created!" "Huh?" Tails says, lifting his head up and perking his ears. He then says, "Knuckette kissed Knuckles?" "Huh?" fakes Knuckette. Sonic and Gary say, "What do you mean huh? You started this conversation in the morning, which is for the 8 PM!" Tails says, "We have to save Precious from Knux! Who knows what he might do to her?" Sonic says, "Tails... a point. Precious... Sonette... Knux. Fortress... destination. To get ready is to set is to go!" Knuckette yells out, "Wait! I haven't told you about the Unknown Knuckles!" They stop. Sonic says then, "Ah, let's hear it later!" and they move off.

Meanwhile, at the RCI Airport, it is 7:30 AM. Knuckles is in the boss's office for leaving work during the Knux attack. Knuckles isn't feeling too well at this time. The boss says, "Knuckles... Where were you during the Knux Attack?" Knuckles thought, "I knew he was going to ask that question! Knux has put me in a very difficult and painful position! I hate him now! If I tell the boss that Knux extended his fingers into my arms and legs to turn me against my friends, he'll think I'm making it up or something! I can't go through this..." The boss says, "Well...?" Knuckles doesn't say anything, he just hangs his head. "Knuckles?" says the boss. Knuckles doesn't say anything again. The boss says, "Perhaps you're not well, Knuckles. I advise you to stay at home until you are well enough to work again." Knuckles says weakly, "Okay, boss..." He says, "You heard me? Usually you don't! Knuckles, what happened to you?! Your uniform is ruined!" Knuckles says, "You don't want to know. (And that took about 23 minutes off my time!)" The boss says, "It may have something to do with Knux or the Knux Attack!" Knuckles says, "Okay! You want it, you get it! Here's the story, boss." Being told to his boss is Knuckles' story.
