Cyrix (the 5-year-old computer) will have to be replaced!

Short Information of Cyrix

Cyrix is the 150 MHz computer with 80 MB RAM and a 1 GB hard drive, As of February 25, 2004, it has a bad video adapter and now freezes up even more than The 5th PC!! That's because Cyrix's CPU overheats a lot, and it has over the years. It was also my favorite computer!

The Moments of the Cyrix Computer...

January 3, 1999 - Cyrix Computer arrived. The next day, the CD-ROM tray was replaced.

Summer of 2000 - Cyrix was transferred downstairs due to CPU fan problems. Then, when the summer ended, it was back in my room.

August 15, 2001 - First set of Video Game Roms end up on the Cyrix Computer from the Acer via 3.5 inch floppy disks.

November 3, 2002 - Cyrix's CPU burned out that morning possibly because the fan stopped. Then, on November 23, 2002, the CPU was replaced, but ALL of our data dating back to January 7, 1999 was lost.

February 23, 2003 - Cyrix was taking Acer's place while it was at the computer shop. It was using Acer's equipment shown here.

February 25, 2004 - Cyrix's video adapter (or hopefully NOT the motherboard) is damaged and needs to be replaced.

April 2, 2004 - Cyrix is finally gone. I found out that the motherboard needs to be replaced. When the right one is found, I can recreate the computer, but it will take about three years for that.

August 16, 2004 - Installed Cyrix's hard drive in the 7th PC (my sister's computer). About two weeks later, the drive stopped working properly. I discovered that when the hard drive made funny noises during startup. Then, when I tried to open Microsoft Works 4.5, it failed miserably. We recovered all we could from the hard drive AFTER scanning it. Now Cyrix needs a motherboard AND a hard drive.

For its original history and its replacement internal and external hardware history, see the Cyrix Computer Information document.
